Abstract

Cost reduction remains a key success factor for photovoltaic¿s solar panels. Continuous developments need to address ways on how solar modules can be produced at lower cost. In the whole manufacturing process the laser scribing step is one of the key processes to produce high efficient solar modules. With narrow scribing line widths and high precision processing tools the non effective zone on solar panels (dead zone) can be reduced to a minimum. Here CIGS has a high potential for improvement, because the material can not be laser processed industrially in the steps P2 and P3. A feasibility study showed that for all three scribing processes reliable laser processes can be found. Within this project an industrial scribing machine will be developed for an all laser scribing process for CIGS.
