WIDE FORMAT PRODUCTION CORRUGATED SHEET DIGITAL PRESS SYSTEM / EXTENDED PACKING
Abstract
(Englisch)
Digital Printing is a technology trend that will heavily change the whole packaging industry (as digital technologies did in many other industries). First low productivity machines already exist and are used for niche production. No real high productivity machine currently exists on the market. Bobst intends to be the first supplier offering a real production digital printer and his dedicated information system for the corrugated market. This new machine will extend the actual portfolio of Bobst and will open-up new markets unexplored until today in advance to international competitors. In addition, the possibility for Bobst to enter the consumable market and to obtain significant additional and stable revenues will greatly help to go through current and future market instabilities due to economic conjuncture or strong CHF. This part of the project will study all possibilities in terms of ¿extended packaging¿ enabled by such new machines, including prototyping the necessary IT infrastructure with a research institute specialized in internet of things (IOT) to support this paradigm change.
