Multi-DRM Broadcast to Broadband Bridge (B3) system for next generation home set-top-box product family
Abstract
(English)
Abilis Systems is developing a new product family for the home TV market to enable the distribution of broadcast contents over an IP home network. This new family of Broadcast to Broadband Bridges called B3 is a new generation of integrated SoC host processors implementing a controlled access to content streaming on local area networks. The B3 product family is a specialized Conditional Access (CA) processor able to transform the TS input streams into IP stream while applying Digital Right Management (DRM) to the content. This new generation of SoC devices will be used in future products to enable multi-room and multiplatform secure premium content distribution and will change the model of the ¿all-in-one¿ set top box currently deployed by broadcaster and service provider operators. Using such unique secure access point in the home local network allows the TV content sharing in a seamless way on connected TVs, pads, smartphones, and game consoles without the need of any additional hardware that implements AC and image format conversion.
