Solar cells are expected to play a key role in future energy supplies. However, the dominant silicon based technologies are not cost competitive with conventional energy sources. Dye sensitized solar cells (DSC) are lower in cost, but materials challenges remain to produce larger cells and modules. This project aims to enhance market readiness of DSCs by developing electrodes based on transparent and conductive precision fabrics. We anticipate low manufacturing costs, enhancing DSC market favourability.
