Projektziele
(Englisch)
The main objectives of the proposal submitted here, are to maintain the value of the Global Alcohol Database which requires constant updating and to promote its application as a tool for practice. An enormous amount of work went into the launching of this ambitious monitoring exercise which is now at stake.
Abstract
(Englisch)
Constant updating of the Global Alchol Database, the only single source that documents global patterns of alcohol use, health consequences, and national policy responses, by country. This monitoring system and database prepares WHO to disseminate data and information on trends in alcohol consumption, trade, production and alcohol-related mortality in countries, including details of policy responses in different countries. The system permits WHO to provide a state-of-the-art assessment of the trends in and health consequences of alcohol use worldwide, and to respond to requests from Member States regarding comparative data on the status of alcohol problems within their borders, regionally and globally.

Specific Objectives are
- to implement a permanent methodology for the monitoring of alcohol use, problems and policies worldwide.
- to maintain a centralised and systematic assessment of global trends in alcohol production, consumption and problems.
- to update on a constant and, where appropriate, annual basis, the information available in the WHO Global Alcohol Database.
- to make full use of existing sources of global data on alcohol production, trade and problems, including the WHO European database
- to promote wide use of the data collected by the general public, journalists and interested individuals and governments
- to prepare the second Global Status Report on Alcohol and specific interim reports with analysis of the data from the Database
