Abstract (Deutsch)

Milk fever (periparturient hypocalcaemia) in cows is still responsible for considerable economic loss. Solbovine, containing the active vitamin D3, is a new approach in prevention of the disorder. In this project, an optimal sustained drug delivery system for single oral application in ruminants will be developed ensuring a drug release for at least 48 h and increased blood level for 4 days. The testing will be carried out in vitro and in vivo. Data simulation will be part of the evaluation.
