Advanced 3D cell biology - From cancer biopsies to physiologically relevant in vitro models
Abstract
(English)
The high attrition rate of late stage anti-cancer drug candidates has led drug developers to reassess in vitro tumor models used to select and validate drug targets and subsequent lead molecules. 3D cell cultures provide physiologically more relevant cells than the conventional Petri dish approach, especially for cancer cells. Hence, the aim of this feasibility study is to demonstrate the concept of a new tool to isolate prostate tumor cells, based on membrane protein specific aptamers, in an in-vivo like environment based on the existing industrial partners 3D cell culture technology.
