We will study the feasibility of electrical power generation for mechanical wristwatches by a micro machined device converting the power with a piezoelectric thin film. While the mechanical energy capture from movements is state of the art in automatic, mechanical wristwatches, the transfer of this energy to a MEMS device, and the power conversion are novel concepts. We will focus on these two issues. The storage will be developed in a follow-up project once the feasibility is shown.
