Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
The OpiSoft project is investigating different methods of soft computing and statistical techniques to improve opinion retrieval on user generated content, specially blogs. The work is being carried out by the principal investigator together with Mrs. Shima Gerani, the PhD student supported by the project. Mrs Shima Gerani is now Dr Shima Gerani, having successfully defended her PhD thesis on 13 September 2012. In the last six months of the project we focused on wrapping things up and the student working in the project concentrated her work writing up the doctoral thesis. The thesis summarised all the work carried out by the student over the 4+ years of the doctoral studies. She explained the opinion retrieval problem in more details, explained the background, related works, the challenges in opinion retrieval in blogs and presented our proposed methods for handling the challenges. She explained in details the evaluation methodology and reported the results and analysis of the experimental investigation. We also spent some time preparing papers to present the results of the overall work. In particular, we spent time revising our submission to the ACM Transaction on Information Systems, which has now been finally accepted for publication.
