Die Literatur zur Elektromobilität und insbesondere zu seinen technischen Chancen und Herausforderungen ist bereits recht umfangreich und dank des gegenwärtigen „Hypes“ weiterhin stark am wachsen. Ferner liegen mittlerweile eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Marktstudien seitens der Automobil- und Energiewirtschaft sowie internationaler Beratungsunternehmen vor. Hinzu kommen die Forschungsberichte von bereits abgeschlossenen Forschungsvorhaben oder noch laufenden Projekten. Eine etwaige Literaturliste wäre dementsprechend lang. Auffällig ist das Fehlen von meta-analytischen Betrachtungen und Schriften zum „System Elektromobilität“. Insbesondere die klassische Mobilitäts- und Verkehrsforschung hat sich bislang nur wenig mit dem Thema „Elektromobilität“ befasst.
