Development of a 18F-PET Folate Tracer for Diagnosis and Therapy Planning of Cancer Diseases
Abstract
(German)
Non-invasive, nuclear imaging techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) are crucial for cancer diagnosis, treatment planning and monitoring. The folate receptor (FR) is a promising cancer-related target because it is overexpressed in a wide variety of tumor types. We will develop the first clinically useful PET-folate tracer, which is expected to be of major clinical and health economical relevance as it serves not only for diagnostic purposes but also for identification of patients, who profit from FR-targeting therapies.
