Assessment of gas mixing in the small airways of children using a double tracer gas tidal breathing technique
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Allemand)
We develop a new method to assess the small airway function. This technique is based on different diffusive properties (gas mixing) of two tracer gases, inspired in a single breath. Underlying gas mixing properties and thus peripheral lung function will be estimated using a numerical model. Gas flow and density are measured by an innovative ultrasound technique. The project outcomes will provide a straightforward and robust lung function tool with potential for widespread use in diagnosis and follow-up of respiratory disorders.
