This project aims at developing a technology that allows cost efficient production of high performance fibre reinforced polymer composites in a pre-industrial scale with radically enhanced mechanical properties through continuous electrophoretic deposition of carbon nanotubes on carbon fibres. The idea is to introduce a thin layer of CNTs around the fibres, building an interphase with properties intermediate between the matrix and fibres inducing interlaminar strengthening and toughening.
