OpenSource CFD Platform for Swiss Turbomachinery Industry
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Allemand)
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a key development-tool for high efficiency turbomachines, like those developed by ABB Turbo Systems, ANDRITZ HYDRO, MAN Turbo and Sulzer Pumps. For the simulations commercial CFD tools are used, for which the license costs are huge and increase every year. In this project an additional development platform based on the Open Source CFD code OpenFOAM will be introduced. This will lead to a considerable cost reduction, an increase in computational possibilities without extra license costs and a reduced dependency on commercial CFD codes suppliers. In order to achieve this, industrial suitability of the code has to be reached, through assessment and code extensions.
