The goal of this project is to contribute to the development of a delivery system to improve health care for nomad communities, based on a desectorized, joint human and veterinary medical approach with emphasis on the control of zoonotic diseases.
Short description
(English)
The interdisciplinary team aims not only to combine human and veterinary medical aspects (zoonoses), but also health perception and medical observation. It is organised in the form of a North-South research partnership between STI and Chadian public health and veterinary institutions. The main objectives are to assess and develop synergies between veterinary extension services and the provision of primary health care, to quantify the importance of selected zoonotic diseases, and to develop and test models for integrated human and animal health care for nomad populations based on a "one medicine" concept.
