Abstract

Computer data centers (DCs) consume some 2% of worldwide electricity. The idea is to bring together industrial and academic expertise in the areas of sensing systems, building technology, and advanced control and systems theory for dynamically optimizing the cooling of a DC. The project will show (by means of analysis, modeling, simulation, and experimental verification in a real DC) that closed-loop optimization in the cooling system achieves substantial reductions in the DC power consumption.
