Vibration mitigation in milling process using active motor spindle.
Abstract
(English)
Vibration problems such as forced or self-excited vibrations are often the most limiting factors for the quality and the productivity of milling process. It also tends to drastically decrease the life cycle of the tools and some components of the machine. The low structural damping of machine tool spindles, essentially induced by the ball bearings of the rotating shaft, makes such vibrations more likely to occur. To decrease these detrimental phenomena, an active control system is implemented on the support of the front bearing of a high performance milling motor spindle. The active system is composed of vibration sensors connected to a digital controller that drives linear actuators located in the radial plan. In this project, the proposed concept must be validated and different control algorithms have to be evaluated and optimised.
