Project aims
(English)
The aim of the project is to study and to design a generic platform for portable data acquisition and processing. A demonstrator will be developed and tested in the frame of an application in the in the ambulatory medical field. The platform will be composed of various body worn modules linked together by a Wireless Local Area Network allowing to transmit data and information between them. This local information system will then be accessible remotely to external assistance thanks to the public mobile telecommunication network (like e.g. the GSM network).
Abstract
(English)
The first year of the project was dedicated to the study, acquisition and evaluation of technologies for the platform. Below are indicated main developments achieved within some of the major addressed domains :
· An portable IP communication stack was developed and tested within Linux environment.
· A design of the hardware architecture for the portable base station was realized.
· A review of existing techniques and a development of new techniques for the speech signal extraction/filtering was realized.
· Theoretical and practical study/tests of the Bluetooth communication system and its limitations were realized.
· A first design of a Bluetooth communication module was developed.
· Last but least, a Bluetooth sniffer was developed.
Follow up
(English)
The next phase of the project will be dedicated to the development of the hardware platforms for the system elements, the porting of all software modules within these platforms and the integration of the complete system.
