The World Migration Report 2010 will be the fifth in IOM's series of biennial reports on international migration. This new report will focus on factors likely to shape global trends in migration over the next two decades, and the likely implications for policy, especially States' capacities to manage migration. The World Migration Report 2010 is intended both to stimulate policy debate and offer practical approaches building capacity to respond to expected future migration dynamics.

Objectifs du projet

The World Migration Report 2010 is intended both to stimulate policy debate and offer practical approaches to building capacity to respond to expected future migration dynamics. The report will be published in November 2010. The general aim of the World Migration Report 2010 is to contribute to:

  • a more comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of international migrati8on with a particular emphasis on its future and the capacity needs it will generate
  • a critical analysis of the specific migration management capacities that governments and their partners will need to address international migration in the coming decade
  • identify successful examples of capacity building initiatives in the field
  • a better informed dialogue, cooperation and coordination among migration stakeholders in countries and regions of origin, transit and destination
  • enhanced longer-term global capacity for collection, analysis, use and sharing of migration information and experiences.
