A high-precision scanning mechanism is to be investigated for position control of measurement and imaging instrument systems, as a lower cost, generic solution for lunar orbiter, lander and rover missions. Due to the high-precision requirements, cost requirements and general specifications for space mechanisms, the development of such a mechanism is a challenge. In this study the technical and commercial feasibility will be studied.
