Abstract

The objective of IMPACT is to research and develop a reliable, secure and robust home area network (HAN) infrastructure for personal energy management (PEM) applications such as energy consumption visualisation, load control and micro generation. This infrastructure will be based on the IPv6 protocol and seamlessly integrate low-power wireless and power line communication technology. To achieve this objective, numerous technical challenges on different communication layers have to be met. The results of this project will be validated with prototype tests in a smart home and field tests in multi-storey dwellings
