The project aims at designing and building a functional prototype of a system for the premagnetization of the ferromagnetic core of a transformer (power below 1MVA) before the connection to the mains. The same electronics can be used to demagnetize transformers with higher power ratings after the disconnection from the mains. With these procedures it is possible to suppress the inrush current peak thus increasing the power quality and reducing the costs of the whole electrical system.
