|
Ökologische und extensive Landwirtschaftssysteme bieten wilden Pflanzen und Tieren Lebensraum. Bekannte Beispiele sind der Schwarze Geier in den spanischen Dehesas oder die Orchideen auf extensiv genutzten Gebirgsweiden. Diese Landwirtschaftssysteme nutzen auch alte Rassen, wie das Walisische Schwarze Rind. Auf diese Art tragen sie in bedeutendem Maße bei zur Erhaltung der Biodiversität in Europa bei.
Das FP7-Forschungsprojekt BioBio der Europäischen Union wird diese Wirkung durch die Bereitstellung eines Indikatorensystems für die Beurteilung der genetischen, Arten- und Standortdiversität in diesen Systemen sichtbar machen.

Organic and low-input farming systems have been shown to benefit farmland biodiversity although a generic indicator system to assess these benefits at the European level is lacking.Such an indicator system can be useful for stakeholders in the context of labeling and/or in the context of evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness of agri-environmental policies.

- Die Indikatoren erfassen die genetische, Arten- und Standortdiversität.
- Handbuch mit Infoblättern für die bestätigten Indikatoren.
- Ein Beprobungsplan für das Monitoring der Biodiversität in ökologischen und extensiven Landwirtschaftssystemen innerhalb und ausserhalb Europas.

- Conceptualization of criteria for a scientifically-based selection of biodiversity indicators for organic/low-input farming systems;
- Assessment and validation of a set of candidate biodiversity indicators in representative case studies across Europe (and in ICPC countries);
- Preparation of guidelines for the implementation of biodiversity indicators for organic/low-input farming systems for Europe and beyond.
