Abstract (English)

We have developed an innovative technique to provide body implants of any kind with a nano-/micro-structured surface coating that suppresses fibrotic tissue reactions. So-called ¿hard fibrotic capsules¿ are the major cause for implant functional failure and no effective countermeasures are currently available. Clinically, fibrotic reactions dramatically reduce the half-life of medical devices. This requires surgical post-operations that cause important additional costs for the health care system.
