The aim of the project is to develop and to commercialise a new high temperature nanoindentation instrument that will allow for the acquisition of accurate load¿displacement data up to temperatures of 800°C, based on a transducer system which eliminates thermal drift from the data. This technology will enable the measurement of hardness and Young¿s modulus in addition to fatigue and creep mechanisms of materials at nano length scales at high temperatures for the first time.
