This project aims at the development and verification of a technology to produce high pressure H2 from formic acid and at the realisation of mobile, portable 'stand-alone-unit' for this. The innovation is the catalytic production of H2 of very high purity under mild conditions, which can directly be used in fuel cells, in combustion units, etc. The economic benchmark is set to be the 'US climate change program' target for 2015 (2 $/kWh). Future perspectives (not part of this project) are the CO2 neutral production of formic acid to achieve a closed loop.
