Quantitative surface functionalization of microcarriers for simultaneously detection of various specific biomarkers
Abstract
(French)
Biocartis has developed a proprietary system for multiplexed analysis of blood. This system enables the determination of several biomarkers from the same sample in a fast and cheap way. The key of this invention is encoded microcarriers. Each code represents a specific adsorption of a biomarker. The system is composed of three subunits: the coded microcarriers, their functionalization and the biological readout device. The surface functionalization needs further development. The reasons are that the functionalization must lead to a quantitative and specific adsorption of antigens and the functionalization method must be independently from the original chemical surface properties of the microcarriers. This project aims to develop a cheap and robust functionalization method which allows a quantitative and specific adsorption of antigens in blood plasma.
