Recombinant Antibodies for Autoimmune Diagnostics.
Abstract
(English)
(Feasibility Study, 7-months). This project will pursue the development of advanced assays for human autoimmune diagnosis or disease-state monitoring. In particular, measuring autoimmune response requires having the appropriate human antibodies as necessary for assay development, reference and standardization. As a first step, we will develop recombinant human-mouse chimeric antibodies, specifically anti-ganglioside and anti-myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG). These will serve functionally as humansimilar material for assay applications, where otherwise human material from natural sources e.g. isolated from diseased individuals, has long proven to be restricting. In the future, we envision a full-spectrum platform, from antigen design or synthesis to the isolation of binding-specific antibodies, followed by recombinant protein expression through full development of further unique diagnostic assays.
