Identification of components to improve thermal stability of Polyurethane prepolymer adhesives for application in engineered wood structures (TSPUR)
Abstract
(German)
The project addresses mechanisms to enhance thermal stability of polyurethane (PUR) prepolymers for wood adhesives. Prime strategies include modifications of the PUR chemical components and addition of reinforcing agents. Effects of these systematic modifications of the prepolymers on the viscoelastic behavior of resulting PUR films and wood-PUR composites will be studied by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA). Promising PUR formulations will be manufactured at masterbatch scale and the structural and thermal stability properties will be tested according to new European standards and US requirements.
