SENSIMED Triggerfish: a disposable soft contact lens encapsulating MEMS and telemetry technologies to monitor non-invasively intraocular pressure of glaucoma patients continuously over 24 hours.
Abstract
(English)
SENSIMED AG has developed a break-through, non-invasive solution for continuous monitoring of intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. The MEMS sensor and a telemetry chip are embedded in a soft disposable contact lens worn occasionally up to 24-hours by glaucoma and at-risk patients. A first KTI project has enabled the company to mature the technology to work in real life conditions. A first prototype is now available and will enable the company to gather important feedback from selected ophthalmology centers. The purpose of this project is to complete some of the technological improvements initiated in the first project, and to develop calibration technologies to bring the product to industrialization stage.
