The objective of the study is to address recent and ongoing changes in ASEAN trade and investment policy and assess the threats and opportunities such changes might entail for the Swiss economy. The study will be divided into three parts. The first part will review ongoing regional and world integration initiatives by Asian economies. The second part of the study will analyse ASEAN’s trade policy regime, paying special attention to trade in services and FDI. The third part of the study will enclose a literature review on existing empirical assessments of preferential agreements in Asia, focusing particular attention on FDI flows. The literature review will be complemented by up to date series of trade- and FDI-related indicators of integration within Asia.
