Hydrocarbon-bearing structures cause modifications of the geo seismic background noise (microtremors or ambient vibrations). The physics of these modifications are currently studied by several analytical and numerical methods including wave propagation modelling in complex media and analysis. This project shall provide novel array antenna based data acquisition approaches which will provide the characterisation of the ambient vibration wavefield. It is expected that information on the location and characteristics of hydrocarbon containing layers can be extracted. The project partner will integrate the methods and analysis steps into its commercial applications to enhance the geophysical information delivered to the oil & gas industry.
