myPump: Low-Power Electrokinetic Micropump
Abstract
(German)
Today, recognized applications of microfluidics with significant market potential include lab-on-a-chip systems for chemical or medical analysis, drug delivery systems, and miniaturized fuel cells for powering portable electronics. However, a major obstacle to the commercial breakthrough of microfluidic devices is the lack of reliable fluidic actuators - pumps - which can be integrated in the devices at a competitive price. This project aims at developing a low-cost, low-power electrokinetic micropump for such applications.
