Informationen über den Nährwert von Lebensmitteln sind eine wesentliche Voraussetzung für die Beurteilung der Ernährungssituation von Einzelpersonen und Bevölkerungsgruppen sowie für Prävention und Behandlung von ernährungsabhängigen Erkrankungen. Die Schweiz ist eines der wenigen Länder in Europa ohne nationale Nährwertdatenbank. Es werden deshalb Nährwertdaten aus den Nachbarländern Deutschland, Frankreich und Italien verwendet. Diese Daten reflektieren den schweizerischen Lebensmittelmarkt jedoch nur ungenügend und geben keine Auskunft über spezifisch schweizerische Produkte. Die Folge sind grosse Ungenauigkeiten in der Berechnung und in der Folge Fehlinterpretationen der Ernährungssituation.

Short description (English)

Information on the nutritional composition of foods is necessary to study the nutritional situation of individuals and population groups and also to prevent and treat nutritional related diseases. Switzerland -together with few other countries in Europe- does not have a national food composition table. For this reason tables mainly from Germany, France and Italy are used. These tables however do not reflect the Swiss food market nor the composition of most of the foods produced in Switzerland. This causes a lot of uncertainty in the calculation of the Swiss diet and the nutritional situation in Switzerland.

Les informations sur les valeurs nutritives sont une importante condition pour juger la situation alimentaire d'un individu et de groupes de population, comme aussi pour la prévention et le traitement de maladies liées à l'alimentation. La Suisse est un des peux Pays en Europe qui n'ont pas une banque de données des valeurs nutritives. On utilise pour cette raison valeurs nutritives des Pays voisins comme l'Allemagne, la France et l'Italie.
Ces donnés représente le marché des aliments suisse en manière insuffisant et ils ne donnent pas les informations sur produits spécifies suisse. Les conséquences sont des grands imprécision dans les calcules et des interprétations fausses sur la situation alimentaire suisse.
