A further study on the mechanism of growth perovskite PZT nanowires: the growth through a pre-liminary acicular phase (PX phase) was deduced from additional measurements. Inhomogeneity in the composition along the wires was related to the conversion from PX phase to the perovskite phase. Publication is being prepared. The crystalline structure of the PX phase of PbTiO3 was resolved by comparing XRD results with ab-initio calculations of the structure. Publication is being prepared. Theoretical work on size effect in ferroelectric nano-wires was done and the results were compared with experiments. Publications are being prepared.
