Novel fiber optic sensing systems for soil displacement monitoring
Abstract
(English)
Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis technology allows for continuously distributed strain and temperature measurements using fiber optic sensors over the length of tens of kilometers. For geotechnical and geo-hazards engineering, this may represent a revolution in terms of the amount and quality of data available for monitoring and back-analysis. The project will focus on development of new sensing systems and their integration into geotechnical structures - the most acute problem, which is challenging application of this novel technology in real world engineering projects.
