Miniaturization of biosensor assays is a major trend in the pharma and life science industry. It not only allows the reduction of expensive reagents, but also enables the integration of additional functions into the disposable microfluidics cartridge. Unfortunately the integration of such advanced elements fails in production due to the lack of suited reliable automated assembly technologies that are also able to maintain the biological function of the microfluidic device. Within this project, this critical assembly process will be developed on a concrete product, a label-free biosensor cartridge. Innovative and low-cost processes for automated high precision assembly of hybrid microfluidic components, such as plastic and glass will be developed ¿ the InnoBOND-process. Special emphasis will be on fully preserving function of pre-coated biomolecules during the bonding process. For evaluation of the InnoBOND-process suited process monitoring systems and quality control procedures of the final device will be realized.
