Versatile nanofluidic system for single cell drug tests and local patch clamping
Abstract
(English)
Manipulating cell membranes is a tedious procedure that requires skilled personnel. We are developing a new system towards a standardized procedure for drug screening. At the heart of this instrument is an AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) cantilever with incorporated nanofluidics that can be brought in a controlled and gentle way into close contact with a living-cell membrane avoiding any cell damage. Thus multiple single-cell-measurements and handling including microinjection, sampling, local patch clamping and/or electrophysiology measurements can be performed in an automated way.
