UAVision ¿ Advanced virtual globe and wireless technologies for the geospatially enabled real-time monitor-ing and rapid mapping using micro and mini UAVs
Abstract
(German)
Creation of an integrated collaborative virtual globe environment supporting the entire process chain of UAV based monitoring and mapping missions ¿ from mission planning and simulation, live monitoring and (near) real-time mapping through to post-mission analysis. Development and integration of an innovative and lightweight wireless data link solution with a) an ultra-low end-to-end delay enabling the live piloting of UAVs using SwissCopter's patented LDV solution and b) a highly reliable transmission of digital video, high-resolution remote sensing data and mission control data. The combination of these technologies is expected to dramatically increase the operational use, flexibility and safety of small to medium scale UAVs by enabling operations in poor weather condi-tions with low to zero visibility and by dramatically extending the operational range.
