Abstract (Englisch)

The Study will review the outcome of two decades of preferential market opening in Latin America, considering the quantitative and qualitative evolution of trade flows of industrial products to Latin America from industrialized countries, as compared to trade flows within the region. The analysis of rules embedded in preferential trade agreements will be confronted with trade liberalisation achieved by WTO agreements. The study will be based on available quantitative information and previous analytical work undertaken by the Integration and Regional Programs Department of the Inter-American Development Bank.
