Description succincte
(Anglais)
The OCDE/Development Centre is an important organisation for donor governments and multilateral organisations. lt is situated at the forehead of the theoretical thinking of development cooperation. In fact, it is a kind of “Think-Thank“ of the OECD, to which it is related, but in a loose way which guarantees its independence.

The role of the OCDE/Development Centre as a major international development research actor has continued to remain decisive in the last years, and the Centre is still regarded as one of the major institutions dealing with the most advanced researches and development topics.

This intensive research activity is illustrated by a prolific production of publications in all fields of development, covering issues such as the new aid architecture, the role of emerging donors, South-South relations, cooperation and integration, effects of migration on development, policy coherence for development, etc.

One of the most remarkable development that was observed lately is the launching of a new set of activities gathered under the title “Global Forum on Development. This includes all kind of activities covering topics that could be related under the motto “Architecture of Aid“, where “Financing for Development“ plays a big role.

This new field is still debated and options are not yet defined and vague, so that attending some of their events might appear somewhat un-coherent or un-coordinated to an outside observer. However, there is no doubts that the succession of such events (to which SDC representatives are invited and take regularly part like in Paris in December 2006, in Berlin in February 2007 or in Paris in April 2007), contribute significantly to create corpuses of knowledge, that will progressively be structured and offer new theoretical breaches in our common struggle against poverty and under-development.
