The objective of the project is to bring a technology we have recently discovered to industrial application. The technology is based on a phenomenon not described before. It it based on the fact that, for the first time, a polymer called 'Parylene' can be deposited on liquid surfaces in a way that the liquid can be used like a solid substrate. The resulting structure remains thermally and chemically stable. The Parylene layer does not exert any stress on the liquid substrate surface hence it perfectly replicates the surface of the liquid. We call this technology the SOLID (Solid on Liquid deposition) Technology. This first feasibility study addresses defining the technological limits, and, by that the potential of innovations that can be achieved with this new technology..
