Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Anglais)
SENSIMED AG has developed a first-in-its-category, non-invasive system for continuous measurement of intra-ocular pressure in glaucoma patients. At the core of the system is a disposable soft contact lens with a micro-electro-mechanical system strain gauge embedded. The contact lens also contains an integrated circuit chip which wirelessly captures power and transfers continuous high-resolution information to a recording module. The concept has been proven ex-vivo (enucleated pig eye). The objective of this project is to mature the current laboratory demonstrator to a stage of reproducibility and of reliability compatible with clinical pilot tests in order to obtain a clinical validation unit. This means to design and to improve the telemetry technology so that current performance can be sustained outside of laboratory conditions, and to develop a method to mold the lens which is safe and comfortable for human patients.
