Smart Electrodes: Textile Garment Neuroprosthesis for Functional Electrical Stimulation
Abstract
(English)
The Smart Electrodes continuation project aims at integrating our new textile imbedded multi-channel transcutaneous (surface) electrical stimulation (TES) technology and EMG recording capabilities into garments. The combination of stimulation and sensing techniques enables the instant quantification of the therapeutic outcome and provides direct feedback for the control of functional electrical stimulation (FES) in a neuroprosthesis (NP). An important aspect of the research is the improvement of the skin interface material both for stimulation and sensing function. Goal of the project is the development of a NP garment based on our novel textile electrode technology.
