Linking Carbon Strategy & Financial Performance
Abstract
(Deutsch)
Climate Change is an important issue that becomes more and more financially relevant for companies. However, companies¿ strategies how to best manage climate change differ. Some companies generate new business opportunities, while others face new risks for profitability. As a consequence, it is crucial for actors on financial markets to investigate how climate change affects business. The project¿s objective is twofold: 1) to enhance the project partner¿s methodology for analysing climate change related business risks and opportunities and 2) to generate the basis for developing new and enhancing existing investment products. Necessary steps to reach these objectives are: a) To analyse which elements constitute a corporate carbon strategy. b) To develop a set of questions that enables the analysis and assessment of companies. c) To gather according data from the Dow Jones 2500 global companies. d) To investigate the link between a company¿s carbon strategy and its financial performance.
