Abstract

Electro-discharge machining (EDM) is a process in which the quality depends on many parameters like discharge current or duration, ignition voltage, workpiece size and material and others. In the field of micromachining the working conditions are very specific and controlling small gap sizes is very delicate. The project aims at devising new control strategies and methods which allow a quantum step in controlling the gap at a new sensitivity level. From this improvement in micromachining we also expect a better process behavior in standard EDM, specifically in difficult conditions. The results will be demonstrated on real applications required from the market.
