Abstract

The EL-PICA project aims for development of innovative human-machine-interfaces (HMI) based on organic electroluminescent semi-conductor materials. It is foreseen to fabricate innovative door opener modules including solution-processed, printed, organic electrolu-minescent and photosensitive polymer components enabling novel functionalities like custom-designable optical indicators for pushbutton applications and purely optical touch switch applications, respectively. Such novel HMI-applications based on organic semiconductor devices offer three major differentiators against their inorganic counterparts: i) small installation depth of the pushbutton/switch module, ii) wider self-illuminated push pad areas, iii) custom-design ability of self-emissive pictograms.
