Short description (English)

Current projects on measures for malaria control include:

Trials of candidate vaccines in Africa and in Papua New Guinea
Development of potential new vaccine components and innovative vaccine technologies.
Methods to analyse human immune responses, human T cell cloning, genetic analysis of T cell receptors, DNA-based HLA typing.
Use of insecticide-treated bednets for malaria control in rural Tanzania; distribution using social marketing methods; long-term effects on child health and survival.

Project aims (English)

To contribute to the control of malaria in endemic areas by carrying out intervention studies and by increasing understanding of the underlying molecular biological mechanisms of immunity
