Abstract
(English)
The object of the project is to develop a SmartLead that plugs into an Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG) via a standard IS-1 connector and has multiple electrodes on the distal part. These electrodes can be selected in any desired combination without the need for re-operation. We will investigate the applicability of a bi-stable micro electro mechanical switch and develop an IC-MEMS and a lead-chip interconnect technology to achieve the smallest possible size. Laboratory experiments will be conducted to determine biostability and biocompatibility of the chip integrated in the lead body to create a Chip Scale Implantable Medical Device.
