Concurrent Computing Methodology for Predicting the Hydroacoustic behavior of Hydraulic Turbine
Abstract
(English)
Electrical power grid operators faced recently new challenges with the stability of their systems for which hydropower plants play a major role. The project objective is to develop, implement and validate new flow computation methodology to significantly improve the design, manufacturing and control of hydraulic turbines or pump-turbines with respect to their unsteady behavior when operating far from the best efficiency regime. A realistic model of this unsteady behavior is developed by concurrently computing both incompressible Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes hydrodynamics with hydro-acoustics and electrical transients.
